Weld Engineering

Weld HeadThe PCI Weld Engineering and Quality Assurance group is responsible for innovative solutions, processes, and controls to address the complex requirements and issues that face our customers.

Our welding technicians are fully certified according to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section IX standards. Certification is kept current at all times through our computerized library of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).

PCI can provide QA\QC services to complement our machining and welding projects. The PCI "Quality Assurance Program" is comprised of the "Nuclear Quality Assurance Program" (QAP), "General Quality Procedures" (GQP) and the "Welding Control Program" (WCP). The PCI Nuclear Quality Assurance Program was established to provide services in order to meet the requirements of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR Part 21 and ASME/ANSI NQA-1. PCI has a full QA\QC department to meet our customers' needs, as well as offering consultation in ASME Sections I, II, III, V, VIII, IX and XI.

PCI has a limited metallurgical laboratory in its Lake Bluff facility. This laboratory is used for the testing of welder qualifications, which are performed in the weld test shop. PCI can perform bend tests, liquid penetrant testing, polishing and acid etching, hardness readings, ultrasonic testing and mag-particle testing with our own equipment and personnel.
